# Role Based Access Control

### Definition

**RBAC** allows you to give/restrict access to resources based on the role of the user. Brainboard uses this mechanism to allow you to restrict or allow access to your organization and projects.

### Level of access

As the owner or admin of the organization, you have two levels of access:

1. **Organization**

   RBAC defined at this level concerns only access to your organization.

   Please refer to [Organization RBAC](/settings/rbac/roles.md) for more details about the roles of users and how you can adjust them.
2. **Project**

   RBAC of this level concerns access to projects (including their environments and architectures)

   Please refer to [Project RBAC](/settings/rbac/update.md) for more details about the roles you can use to configure access to your projects.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.brainboard.co/security/rbac.md?ask=<question>
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
